Disclaimer!!

The Department of Justice disassociates itself from any attempted phone calls that are allegedly being made by the Department's telephone number 23279400 ("spoofing") where persons may be asked to provide their personal details including the card number of their respective identities. These attempts were duly reported to the Executive Police.

It turns out that although the numbers appear local, it is important that individuals who receive these calls do not give any form of details or follow any instructions that may be given to them.

This Department is informed that the Executive Police is creating awareness about this through social media and many press releases and that they will also be contacting local service providers to send an SMS to their customers in this regard.

The Department of Justice was set up towards the end of 2014 by means of Legal Notice 402.14.

The functions of the Department are those of co-ordinating, supporting and monitoring those areas in the justice sector which do not fall under the remit of the Courts Services Agency but which however pertain to the administration of justice, thereby enabling the Courts Services Agency to focus more on Court management and judicial proceedings.
